Fenix, a governmental organization opposing the Deadmans, have developed the Revice Driver for someone with complete control over their inner demon. In the present day, the remains of Giff now lie in the hands of a demon cult called the Deadmans, who seek to resurrect him by converting peoples' inner demons into their fold. In 1971, a scientific expedition in Latin America had uncovered an ancient artifact containing the remains of the demon Giff, leading to the creation of the Vistamps. Despite the hardships she endured, the assistant producer clarified this was in regards to her overall experiences at Toei and not at all related with the staff of Revice, reassuring that they were easy to work with. Among the addressed issues were sexual harassment, unpaid overtime, and the chief producer not taking her problems seriously. On November 2021, an unnamed assistant producer of the show had filed a complaint to the General Support Union regarding her position in the franchise since her promotion into the current position.

The series premiered on September 5, 2021. On July 27, 2021, Toei held a press conference to unveil the heroes and further discussed the details of the show, while also officially announcing Kinoshita as the series' head screenwriter. In June, Revice was revealed to the public in promotional posters for Saber + Zenkaiger: Superhero Senki, followed by toy magazine promos a few weeks later.
Toei Company confirmed and filed the trademark for Revice on May 23, 2021. To emphasize the public baths theme, many scenes with the cast in them were filmed. However, the production team were able to properly film across Japan this time, allowing more on-location shoots while following proper COVID-19 prevention protocols. Because the genre of Revice isn't fantasy, certain filming techniques from Saber were unable to be used. To further symbolize the family theme, the Igarashi family have a family dinner in the first episode.ĭue to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the guest spots in Saber ultimately became main cast members, so a conscious effort was made to make sure Revice has plenty of one-off guest appearances in matter similar to Kamen Rider W and Kamen Rider OOO, with the story of the episode that they appear in, revolving around them. There were also plans for Yukimi Igarashi to die in the first episode, but the idea was scrapped as the show's theme was family and not revenge. Moreover, the idea of an ordinary family running a public bath and doing typical daily activities was heavily pushed to balance out all of the action that comes from both the Kamen Rider fighting scenes and the demon exposition. WritingĪlthough one of the major themes of Revice is family, most of the drama comes from the community of people surrounding the Igarashi siblings.
Series' scriptwriter Hanta Kinoshita revealed that he also had originally pitched an idea for a female primary Rider, but it was rejected fairly quickly. Revice is the third series to be an anniversary like Kamen Rider Decade and Kamen Rider Zi-O, and Mochizuki felt that the trope of having former Rider actors appear in guest spots was overused, but still wanted to incorporate each of the past Riders into the many forms of Revi and Vice. However as the virus showed no signs of slowing down, Mochizuki choose to go with a family drama instead. Development on Kamen Rider Revice began during the height of COVID-19, where producer Taku Mochizuki had wanted to do a " road film"-type concept that symbolized the end of the pandemic.
